President El-Sisi Receives New Libyan PM

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Libya’s new Prime Minister Mr. Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and the Director of the General Intelligence Service.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the Libyan PM expressed his honor to meet the President and conveyed Libya’s appreciation for Egypt's sincere efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis at various levels during the past period. These efforts resulted in a convergence of views among Libyans and helped put an end to the political division in Libya. Mr. Dbeibah praised Egypt’s support for the Libyan institutions in combating terrorism and extremist groups.

Mr. Dbeibah also affirmed that the Libyan government and people are looking forward to establishing a comprehensive partnership with Egypt with the aim of creating successful models from Egypt’s inspiring development experience that has been achieved over the past years under the able leadership of the President, especially with regard to restoring security and stability and launching the development and reform process.

On his part, President El-Sisi welcomed Mr. Dbeibah in his second country, Egypt. His Excellency renewed his congratulations to the new Libyan leadership for gaining the confidence of the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) as the representatives of the Libyan people. The President also expressed that this new Libyan leadership would mark the beginning of a new era in which all state institutions in Libya would work in harmony and in a unified manner and put the national interest above all other considerations.

His Excellency confirmed Egypt’s keenness to further support the Libyan people to complete the mechanisms of managing their country and consolidate the pillars of peace and stability so that they would preserve their capabilities and enforce their will. The President affirmed that the current stage requires Libya to mobilize all the efforts of its loyal people in order to prioritize action and work on various fields, starting with restoring security, then stabilizing the pillars of the state, and ending with initiating service and development projects that have a direct impact on the brotherly Libyan people. The President asserted that Egypt is fully prepared to provide all its expertise and experience to serve the Libyan brothers, in a way that contributes to putting Libya on the right track and preparing the state to move towards construction, development and stability.

The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed the Libyan efforts during the coming period to lead the transitional phase as well as the prospects for cooperation and coordination between the two brotherly countries to support Libya in its historical responsibility at this period. In this respect, it was agreed that executive officials would exchange visits to transfer expertise and experience to the Libyans and to hold consultations over all sectors in which cooperation will take place, especially when it comes to providing services, restoring security, strengthening economic cooperation, and training Libyan cadres in various fields.
