President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with President of World Jewish Congress Mr. Ronald S. Lauder in the presence of Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS) Mr. Abbas Kamel.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the Egyptian-American relations, the peace process in the Middle East as well as issues pertaining to combating extremist ideology.
His Excellency affirmed the deep and strategic relations between Egypt and the United States which is of great importance, in light of the crisis threatening the entire region’s stability and security.
More cooperation and regular consultations between the two countries is required to avert the dangers, particularly in the context of combating terrorism and extremist ideology. The aim is to achieve security and stability in the region.
For his part, Mr. Lauder praised the strong relations between Egypt and the United States, expressing his appreciation for Egypt's pivotal role as a pillar of security and stability in the Middle East and the African continent.
He also referred to Egypt's strenuous efforts to address the threat of terrorism and arrive at solutions to the various crises that the region is facing.
Mr. Lauder also mentioned the achievements Egypt made concerning the economic reform and comprehensive development process, thus enhancing Egypt's historic role at various levels in the region.
The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the peace process in the Middle East.
President El-Sisi stressed the importance of resuming negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides to reach a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the international references.
His Excellency, in this regard, referred to the relentless efforts made by Egypt to support the Palestinian reconciliation process and stabilize the situation in the Gaza Strip. These efforts aim to preserve security and stability for the Palestinian people and improve the humanitarian, living and economic conditions in Gaza.
