President El-Sisi Receives Chairman and CEO of Orange SA

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Orange SA Stéphane Richard in the presence of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat and the company’s senior officials in Egypt and at the regional level.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting addressed joint cooperation with "Orange SA" in the communications and information technology sector.

In this context, President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's aspiration for constructive cooperation with "Orange" and other French companies, within the framework of the strategic bilateral relations between Egypt and France and the presence of the distinguished experts of French companies in all fields. The current comprehensive development process in Egypt and the advances in communication technology and digital transformation were also taken into account together with the trend towards the application of modern technological systems, particularly in the management systems of new facilities and cities.

For his part, the Chairman and CEO of Orange SA confirmed the company's keenness to expand its activities in Egypt. He also highlighted the huge and promising investment opportunities provided by the communications and information technology sector in Egypt, its young cadres and qualified workers, and the multiple initiatives launched by Egypt with the aim of achieving a quantum leap in society through localizing cutting-edge technology in various governorates and making a real advancement in the field of electronics industry and design, as well as developing the modern infrastructure that Egypt enjoys in new cities, roads and axes.

The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation with “Orange" and increase its investments in telecommunications services and the applications supporting the work systems of smart cities. They also discussed the efforts aimed at providing smart services in a way that contributes to enhancing financial inclusion. It was stressed that these efforts are exerted since the State is keen to develop the communications sector given the role it plays in achieving sustainable development through promoting digital transformation, providing more job opportunities, and developing the services system provided to citizens.
