President El-Sisi Receives IMF Managing Director

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, at his residence in Washington at Blair House.
The Spokesman of the Presidency said that the meeting reviewed aspects of cooperation between Egypt and the IMF, in light of the developments of the implementation of the Egyptian economic reform program.

During the meeting, the President expressed his appreciation for the fruitful partnership and constructive cooperation between the Egyptian government and the International Monetary Fund to implement the comprehensive economic reform program. He expressed his keenness to continue cooperation with the IMF, in view of the positive partnership between the two sides regarding providing positive atmosphere to all investors and international money markets in the Egyptian economy, the investment opportunities and broad prospects it offers.

The Egyptian people also played a key role in the success of the state's efforts in implementing the reform process, he said. He stressed the importance of the reform measures adopted in this regard, which contributed to the progress achieved by the positive indicators of the Egyptian economy and improved the credit rating of Egypt by specialized international institutions.

The Spokesman said that Lagarde congratulated the President on what was achieved within the framework of the economic reform program by the Egyptian government, stressing that the great awareness shown by the Egyptian people, together with the successful management by the Egyptian political leadership of deep reform policies helped remarkably improve the various economic indicators, reflecting the successful and accurate implementation of the steps of economic reform. She expressed the IMF's keenness to continue constructive cooperation with Egypt to complete the latest stages of the economic reform program successfully.

During the meeting, Lagarde also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the President for the importance he attaches to the youth sector. She also lauded Egypt’s successful experience of organizing national and international youth conferences held in Egypt over the past years under the direct auspices of his Excellency.
