President El-Sisi Receives Tanzania's Foreign Minister

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tanzania, Mrs. Liberata Mulamula, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Housing Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, and the Director of the Africa Department of the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that President El-Sisi asked to have his greetings conveyed to the Tanzanian President Samia Hassan. His Excellency expressed Egypt's pride in the distinguished historical relations with Tanzania and praised the relations between the two countries that have been promoted in recent years and joint cooperation mechanisms that have been activated in various fields.

For her part, The Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a letter to President El-Sisi from the President of Tanzania in which she expressed Tanzania's great appreciation for its deep historical relations with Egypt, keenness to further promote cooperation between the two sides, and aspiration to benefit from Egypt’s broad experience in the field of mega development projects. In the letter, President Samia Hassan touched on the status and developments in joint cooperation efforts with Egypt to establish the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant and Dam to generate hydroelectric power in Tanzania.

The spokesman added that the meeting also discussed the issue of the Renaissance Dam. President El-Sisi stressed Egypt's firm position to preserve its water security and the historical rights to the Nile waters by reaching a legally binding agreement on the rules for the filling and operation of the dam in a manner that guarantees the right of current and coming generations in the Nile waters, Egypt’s main source of water.
