President El-Sisi Receives HRH the Crown Prince of Jordan at Al-Ittihadiya Palace

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President asked that his greetings be conveyed to His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, praising the strong historical relationship between Egypt and Jordan. The President also hailed the brotherly ties, friendship, and common destiny, views and positions shared by the two countries and peoples in light of the grave challenges witnessed in the region.

For his part, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Jordan conveyed greetings from His Majesty the King of Jordan to his brother President El-Sisi, expressing his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s leadership and people. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II also highlighted Jordan’s welcome to the current level of joint coordination with Egypt to deal with the various crises the countries of the region have been grappling with, which threaten the security and stability of Arab peoples. HRH the Crown Prince praised Egypt's pivotal role in serving the Arab causes and its efforts to strengthen Arab solidarity.

The Spokesman added that, during the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of tourism, economy, trade exchange, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Issues of combating terrorism and extremist ideology were further addressed.

They also presented the experience the two brotherly countries underwent in the field of women and youth empowerment and discussed ways to exchange experiences in this regard.

In this respect, the President praised the Crown Prince’s participation in previous sessions of the World Youth Forum. His Excellency stressed that this forum is of great importance for it provides an opportunity for the Egyptian youth to engage in dialogue, learn about the State's mega projects and national programs, have direct discussions with various officials, interact with Arab and foreign youth, exchange ideas, and open up to different cultures.

With regard to regional developments, the existing efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction process of the Strip were discussed. The two sides agreed on the importance of reviving the peace process in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the question of Palestinian in a way that guarantees the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The two sides also stressed the importance of concerted efforts between Arab countries to address the crises in some countries of the region, especially Libya and Syria, on the basis of respect for their sovereignty and unity with the aim of ending the human suffering of their brotherly peoples.

They also touched on ways to enhance cooperation with Iraq within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism, as it constitutes an appropriate opportunity to exchange views on issues and challenges of common interest. Condemnation of the recent failed assassination attempt against the Iraqi prime minister was reiterated. The two countries’ full support to stabilize the situation in Iraq as well as support to its war against terrorism and its political path was also expressed.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Anany and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea. From the Jordanian side, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al-Fayez, Minister of Trade, Industry and Supply Yousef Al-Shamali, Jordan’s Ambassador to Egypt Amjad Adaileh, and Director of Crown Prince’s Office Moustafa Khalifa were in attendance.
