President El-Sisi Receives the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at Ittihadia Palace

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received HRH Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, at Ittihadia Palace, where an official reception ceremony was held.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said President El-Sisi welcomed HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a dear guest in his second country, Egypt. The President asked for his greetings to be conveyed to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. President El-Sisi affirmed his keenness on further advancing consultations and coordination with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on various issues of common concern and pertinent to bilateral cooperation, within the framework of the historic and strategic relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which reflect the common political will and shares destiny.

The President lauded the great and qualitative progress in the Egyptian-Saudi relations across the political, economic, security and military fields, as well as the remarkable increase in trade exchange and the size and scope of investments. President El-Sisi also pointed out to their joint commitment to further deepening and developing these relations.

HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman conveyed to the President the greetings of King Salman. He stressed that his current visit to Egypt comes to consolidate the outstanding relations between the two brotherly countries and further advance the pace of the periodic and intense consultations and coordination between Egypt and Saudi Arabia on regional issues of common concern. This reflects the two countries' commitment to strengthening the firm, strategic alliance between them, and to enhancing Arab and Islamic unity in the face of the various challenges the region is currently encountering. He hoped his visit would give additional impetus to the robust and long-standing ties that bring the two countries together at the official and popular levels.

The Saudi Crown Prince underscored the importance of continuing coordination and intensive consultations and of exchanging views between Egypt and Saudi Arabia to counter the challenges and crises facing the Arab nation. He affirmed the need to stand up against interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, which aim to destabilize the security of the region and its peoples. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman commended Egypt’s pivotal and firm role as a fundamental pillar for security and stability in the region.

On the level of bilateral relations, the Spokesman said the meeting tackled ways to bolster the various aspects of the two countries’ relations, particularly at the economic and investment levels. It also discussed establishing more joint projects, given the promising investment opportunities available on both sides, and capitalizing on all areas available to enhance their integration.

The meeting also focused on a number of issues on the international and regional arenas. The discussions reflected a mutual understanding to continue joint efforts to address the risks threatening the security and stability of the countries and peoples of the region. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering position with regard to the Gulf’s security, stressing that it is integral to Egypt’s national security and rejecting any practices that seek to destabilize it.

The two sides agreed on the importance of the upcoming summit that will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and the United States of America.
