President El-Sisi Participates in Virtual High-Level Meeting of American Chamber of Commerce

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated today via video conference technology in the high-level meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Egypt Business Council (USEBC). Chairmen of the boards and senior officials of a number of major international American companies participated in the event that was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry, Minister of International Cooperation Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, and Minister of Trade and Industry Mrs. Nevine Gamea.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed this important meeting, which embodies the spirit of robust cooperation and friendship between Egypt and the United States of America.

The President stressed Egypt's keenness to continue creating a favorable climate for American investments in Egypt to contribute to supporting its economic development process through promoting partnership with major American companies with a view to making the best use of the current promising investment opportunities in Egypt.

The President also affirmed that the recent period Egypt has recently witnessed was marked by a qualitative shift in the various economic and development sectors, which reflects the state’s strong and ambitious will to achieve sustainable development. This was reflected in the increase in foreign investment inflows to various sectors rich in many diverse investment opportunities, which are supported by a high-level political decision to implement projects in all areas of development deemed an equal priority for the state's efforts.

For their part, the board members of the major American companies expressed their pleasure at organizing this event. They further expressed their honor to participate in the event and to meet again with the President in order to discuss promising investment opportunities in Egypt, praising the priorities of Egypt's investment plan. It is consistent with the features of the global economic order, especially in the field of energy in all its forms; energy use is on the rise in Egypt in its endeavor to become a regional center for energy trading, which would therefore enhance its strategic geographical position. The plan also includes the fields of information technology, financial inclusion, digital economy, tourism, transportation, water desalination and treatment, and health care.

This is in addition to smart cities, in light of the Egyptian government agencies’ relocation to the New Administrative Capital, and the various new cities under construction across Egypt.

The participants also praised the President’s vigorous personal follow-up of the measures taken to facilitate the work of foreign and American companies in Egypt. They also commended the continuous development and growth and the remarkable solidity witnessed in the Egyptian economy. This growth has been supported by the efforts and measures adopted by the Egyptian government to accelerate the development process, especially in light of the measures taken to improve the investment conditions and implement many mega national projects. These efforts are the factors that make Egypt a good example to be followed at the international level and an important development partner.

The meeting witnessed an open discussion between the President and CEOs of the various American companies, who expressed their keenness to intensify trade and economic cooperation with Egypt to achieve the common interests of both sides. The CEOs have also presented their future plans to invest in Egypt or expand their existing projects. In this context, His Excellency affirmed Egypt’s keenness to continue communication with investors to enhance joint cooperation with the United States and identify and solve any problems or obstacles they could face.

It is worth noting that a number of directors and senior officials of the most prominent American international companies in various fields, especially Apache, Bechtel, Honeywell, Uber Technologies Inc, Lockheed Martin, ExxonMobil, Chevron Corporation, Google, MasterCard, Pepsico, and Hilton Group, attended the meeting.
