President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrives to Niger for the chairmanship of the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union hosted in Miami.
The Extraordinary Summit of the African Union will witness the launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) after the quorum of ratifications of the African states is completed and the agreement enters into force.
This agreement is one of Egypt’s priorities after its chairmanship of the African Union, and Egypt looks forward to activating it and making it enter into force. This agreement is a milestone in the path of economic integration in Africa, and it will create the world’s largest African Continental Free Trade Area. This aims to achieve the agreement's ambitious goals and fulfill the legitimate aspirations for development, progress and growth for the peoples of Africa. This paves the way for Africa’s integration in the institutions and mechanisms of the world economy, increases the rates of intra-African trade, opens up new developed horizons for linking the countries of the continent, and maximizes investment opportunities. This is in addition to supporting development, making the best use of resources. Since its chairmanship of the African Union, Egypt announced that it looks forward to achieving these goals via formulating a framework that would lay a solid foundation for African economic integration as an engine for development, which was embodied in making the African Free Trade Area Agreement, which will be announced by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Extraordinary Summit In Niger.
