President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated this morning Egypt’s Medicine City, Gypto Pharma, in Khanka, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and a number of ministers and senior statesmen.
This is one of the most important national projects the state implemented with the aim of possessing the modern technological and industrial capacity in this vital field. This project, in turn, would help citizens obtain high-quality and safe pharmacological treatment, end monopolistic practices, and control the prices of medicines.
In fact, this mega project supports the efforts made by the State concerning medical and health initiatives and services provided for citizens.
Gypto Pharma is one of the largest medicine cities in the Middle East. It covers an area of 180,000 square meters. It is equipped with the latest technologies and global systems in pharmaceutical production to become a regional hub that attracts major international companies in the field of pharmaceutical and vaccine industries.
President El-Sisi watched a documentary film about Gypto Pharma, entitled "We Are Steps Ahead”.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi thanked those in charge of the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt. He emphasized the important role this project plays for the citizens seeking to obtain high-quality medicine at an affordable price. In the same vein, His Excellency affirmed that it supports the efforts made by the State in the health insurance system.
The President made it clear that this project was contemplated seven years ago. The aim is to ensure the production of high-quality pharmaceutical products in accordance with international standards.
The President pointed out that Egypt’s health sector needs to domestically manufacture plasma derivatives, an industry that requires complex and controlled technology. Hence, His Excellency affirmed his full support to reach this goal during the next few years.
President El-Sisi stressed the importance of having pharmaceutical raw materials in Egypt. In this context, the President emphasized that the local production of medicines is highly important regardless of the cost and gains.
President El-Sisi further touched on oncologic medicines, explaining the State’s readiness to provide all that is necessary to localize the oncologic medicines industry in Egypt.
The President called for focusing on the quality assurance of the products manufactured in the city, in an effort to avoid counterfeiting. He stressed that the products manufactured inside the city should be of a very high quality, not less than 100%. In this context, the President indicated that the aim of these factories in this city is to produce high-quality medicines likewise the products exported from the world’s most prestigious factories.
Concluding His statement, President El-Sisi thanked the family of the departed Major General Salah El-Shazly for the efforts he made in the studies of establishing this city eight years ago.
The President directed that one of the squares or streets be named after the Maj. Gen. El-Shazly’s name.
After that, President El-Sisi made a tour of inspection in the Medicine city, Gypto Pharma, marking its inauguration.
