President El-Sisi Meets King of Jordan

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met this morning with His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that President El-Sisi thanked his brother His Majesty King Abdullah for the warm reception and generous hospitality. His Excellency praised the strong historical ties and fraternal relations between the two countries at the official and popular levels. He stressed keenness to continue consultations between the two sides and to further promote bilateral relations in various fields.

The President also praised the coordination between the two countries on issues of common interest, whether at the bilateral level or through the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Iraq. His Excellency lauded both countries’ keenness to promote joint Arab action in a way that would contribute to addressing the multiple challenges facing the Arab nation in the current stage.

On his part, the King of Jordan welcomed President El-Sisi in Amman. He stressed that the Jordanian government and people appreciate the distinguished historical relations they have with Egypt. His Majesty also added that they are looking forward to further promoting the existing cooperation frameworks between the two countries in various fields, especially in light of Egypt’s pivotal role in the region and its efforts to consolidate stability and counter terrorism, thus serving the interests of the Arab peoples while the region faces unprecedented challenges.

The Spokesman added that, during the meeting, they discussed means to strengthen bilateral relations at various levels. In this regard, it was agreed to continue strengthening economic relations and to increase trade exchange.

The two leaders also reviewed the ongoing efforts to settle crises in a number of countries in the region. They stressed the importance of supporting national institutions in these countries so as to arrive at a political settlement, restore security and stability to the peoples of the region, and safeguard their territorial integrity.

Both presidents discussed the developments in the Middle East peace process and  joint efforts to combat terrorism that is threatening the region and the entire international community.
