President El-Sisi Meets the U.S. Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with U.S. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the U.S. Secretary of Defense confirmed that he was honored with President El-Sisi’s visit to the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense. He emphasized his profound appreciation for the President’s personal efforts as well as his very balanced and effective spirit of leadership to achieve security, stability and calm, not only in the Middle East and Africa, but at the international level and with regard to various international issues and crises. He added that this is a continuation of Egypt’s historical role in establishing and disseminating the culture of peace and co-existence in the region, which is a key role for the U.S. that it relies on and supports its capabilities.

President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s commitment to further advancing the strategic partnership with the U.S., particularly with regard to the military aspect and at the security level, notably in light of the extraordinary conditions in the region and the world. During the meeting, the two sides agreed on the need to strengthen Egyptian-American military relations, which are considered as the core of the strategic partnership between the two countries. These relations support their joint responsibility and efforts to restore security and stability in the Middle East.
