President El-Sisi Meets French Minister of the Armed Forces in Paris

Today, in Paris, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with France's Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly.
 
The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting touched on the development of military cooperation between Egypt and France. Views were exchanged on a number of regional issues.
 
The President expressed appreciation for and confidence in the strategic relations with France across various fields, especially security and military. He looked forward to developing bilateral cooperation in a way that contributes to countering current challenges and achieving development and prosperity for the peoples of the two countries.
 
The French Minister of the Armed Forces confirmed the importance that her country attaches to strengthening coordination and solidifying the existing partnership between Egypt and France, especially military cooperation between the two countries. This also includes joint efforts to combat terrorism, given that Egypt is the cornerstone for security and stability in the Middle East and Africa.
 
The Spokesman added that the meeting touched on the development of military cooperation between the two countries. President El-Sisi stressed that facing challenges in the region and combating terrorism require unified efforts and collective coordination to ensure the strength and effectiveness of the confrontation. There was agreement to intensify consultation and coordination in the coming period between the two sides so as to confront terrorism and undermine the danger of terrorists moving from hotbeds of tension to other regions, which threatens regional security as a whole, especially in North Africa and the African coast.
 
The latest developments pertinent to the Libyan crisis were also discussed. Views were aligned on the importance of supporting the political track in Libya and adhering to holding the upcoming elections on December 24, through which a legitimate authority elected by the free will of the Libyan people will assume power. This shall mark the beginning of a new page for the Libyan state as well as reinstate state institutions, restore security and stability, the exit of foreign forces, and the fulfillment of the aspirations of its people.
