President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Chairman of the National Company for Roads Building and Development Major General Magdy Anwar, Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Major General Ihab Al-Far, Assistant to the Chief of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority for East Canal Projects Major General Ahmed Ismail, Assistant Commander of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Major General Ahmed Fouda, Director of Armed Forces Engineering Authority Advisory Office Major General Ashraf El-Araby, and Assistant Director of road designs at the Engineering Authority Brigadier General Abdel Aziz El-Feki.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the executive position of Egypt’s new axes and roads network as well as the land reclamation project in North and Central Sinai.
In this context, the President was updated on the developments of the reclamation and cultivation of 270,000 feddans in Central and North Sinai, especially with regard to the choice of the best crops to grow according to climatic and agricultural studies in the region.
The meeting further addressed the executive steps taken to provide and transfer water to the lands planned to be cultivated. Furthermore, the President was briefed on the progress of work in the axes and roads within the scope of the project.
President El-Sisi directed that coordination and integration between the various state agencies, including the academic and scientific sectors, be continued with a view to encouraging the executive steps of this strategic project, which are taken under the North and Central Sinai development project.
Hence, the President underlined the significance of considering the projects' important impact on the state’s efforts when it comes to realizing comprehensive development in the entire Sinai Peninsula and providing job opportunities.
The Spokesman added that the meeting addressed the progress of work on a number of national construction projects, especially the road and axis network nationwide. Thus, the development of the Upper Egypt road network, particularly Manfalut and North Luxor axes, was reported.
The President hence emphasized on the importance of improving workflow in the newly-built axes alongside the Nile in order to facilitate movement and serve development projects and new urban communities, falling within the integrated system of transverse axes linking the road network in the east and west of the Nile.
The meeting further touched on the developments in the work being done in roads and axes in east Cairo along with the efforts made to make use of the lands on both sides of the "Shinzo Abe" Axis.
The President directed the establishment of a modern, integrated complex for craft workshops in “Al-Amal City” (City of Hope). The complex is planned to include specialized craft units equipped with all necessary services, a stretch within the comprehensive development of the area.
The meeting also highlighted the construction work in progress in a number of structures and facilities in the New Administrative Capital, especially Egypt's Islamic Cultural Center.
