Saturday, 27 November 2021 / 01:06 PM

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Presidential Aide for National and Strategic Projects Sherif Ismail, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayyed El Qassir, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea and Director of the “Future of Egypt” project Pilot Bahaa El-Din El-Ghannam.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting reviewed all components of the fertilizer system in Egypt.

The President issued directives for coordination among all concerned parties, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as specialized research centers. This is to carefully examine the development of the fertilizer production system so as to ensure its availability in the local market. This is in addition to meeting the state’s strategic approach to increase the area of agricultural land in Egypt by expanding mega national projects for desert land reclamation.

The meeting also touched on the production capacities currently available and the status of projects underway for the production of fertilizers. This is in light of the relevant variables on the local and international arenas, in addition to the fact that fertilizers are among the most important factors affecting agricultural production and food security. The state is therefore keen to maximize the requirements of agricultural production, in line with current and future plans for horizontal and vertical expansions in reclaimed lands to cover the food needs in Egypt.
