President El-Sisi Closely Examines Full Details of National Family Development Project

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Social Solidarity Ms. Nevine Al-Kabbaj, Presidential Adviser for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, and President of the National Council for Women Dr. Maya Morsy.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the follow-up meeting discussed the status of the National Family Development Project.

The President directed that the full details of the National Family Development Project be closely examined to integrate with the multiple presidential initiatives carried out in the fields of health care and community protection. The President directed that more medical convoys be provided, the number of equipped cars be increased, and the executive mechanisms used by these initiatives be promoted. The President highlighted the importance of ensuring that these mechanisms are consistent with the current efforts made in the activities and programs of "Haya Karima" (Decent Life) Initiative that aims to develop the villages of the Egyptian countryside.

The President also issued directives to establish an institutional mechanism to regularly monitor and evaluate the results of the National Family Development Project. The President emphasized that due attention should be paid to the cultural and awareness aspects of the project and the inclusion of the topics of family development and public health in the school curricula be studied. The aim is to consolidate its principles in the rising generations, given the critical importance of these topics and their interconnectedness with the population issue.

The Spokesman demonstrated that the meeting addressed the final vision of the executive framework of the National Family Development Project with its various axes, showing all the competent agencies taking part in this project which aims to comprehensively develop aspects of the life of Egyptian families across the Republic.

The project is based on several pillars related to economic empowerment, especially for women, through achieving financial independence and providing job opportunities. The project also focuses on service intervention with the aim of training and qualifying medical staff and making the necessary means available to provide family planning services in cooperation with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs). Awareness, education and cultural programs are also sought to be provided through media campaigns to help raise citizens’ awareness of the basic concepts and the implications of the population issue. The project also tackles digital transformation through the establishment of a unified electronic system to automate and link all services provided to the Egyptian family and the legislative pillar aiming to establish a regulatory framework governing the policies taken to control population growth.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the geographical scope of the project nationwide, the governorates implementing the project’s activities, and the target groups. Efforts to integrate this project with the various existing projects and initiatives in government agencies, including the family medicine units of the Ministry of Health and NGOs affiliated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
