President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine Riyadh Al-Maliki in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the latest developments on the efforts to revitalize and reinvigorate the peace process and negotiation path for the Palestinian cause.
President El-Sisi affirmed that Egypt would continue its tireless efforts towards the Palestinian cause, as it is one of the fundamentals of the Egyptian policy. The President confirmed that efforts would be pursued for the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights and establish their independent state in accordance with the terms of reference of international legitimacy, taking into account the changes on the regional and international arenas during the recent period. Hence, the importance of uniting Arab and international efforts was underlined by the President in order to take effective moves during the coming period to reactivate the mechanisms involved in the peace negotiations between the two parties and to overcome the challenges take on during the past period, in parallel with the efforts made in the path of national reconciliation and confidence building between the Palestinian parties in order to achieve the desired peace.
For his part, the Jordanian and Palestinian officials expressed appreciation for Egypt's relentless efforts and appreciated endeavors in support of the Palestinian cause; they also praised, in this regard, the steadfast historical role played by Egypt with the aim of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause. The officials from both sides further commended the Egyptian efforts to maintain calm in the Gaza Strip, to improve its humanitarian, living and economic conditions, to complete the reconciliation process and to achieve political consensus among all Palestinian forces and factions.
The Spokesman added that, during the meeting, consensus was reached on continuing intensive consultation and coordination among all parties on various Palestinian-cause related issues, particularly with regard to returning to the track of bilateral negotiations and following up on the next steps for uniting the Palestinians.
