The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that during the call, they discussed the developments of a number of international and regional files, foremost of which is the situation in Libya. The French President affirmed his keenness to exchange views and visions with President El-Sisi in this regard in light of Egypt’s pivotal role in the region.

In this context, President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's steadfast strategic stance towards the Libyan crisis represented in restoring the institutions of the Libyan national state, ending the chaos of the spread of criminal groups and terrorist militias, and giving top priority to combating terrorism and achieving stability and security. This is in addition to putting an end to the scale of illegal foreign interventions in the Libyan issue that would continue to exacerbate the current situation, which constitutes a threat to the security and stability of the entire Middle East and Mediterranean region.

The two Presidents agreed on the need to intensify coordination in this regard in the coming period, confirming their keenness to end the Libyan crisis by reaching a political solution that paves the way for the return of security and stability in this country, especially via supporting the relevant endeavors and implementing the outputs of the Berlin process , as well as rejecting any external interference in this regard.

The Spokesman added that the two presidents also discussed some issues related to bilateral relations, in light of the growth of these relations during the recent period. President Macron stressed France's keenness to develop joint cooperation with Egypt in various fields. The President also expressed his aspiration to continue working to advance distinguished relations between the two countries at various levels.
