The Delivery of Spanish Talgo Luxury Trains

The trains are characterized by modern, advanced technologies and will offer the highest quality services to the passengers. They will constitute a significant qualitative leap in Egypt’s railways, within the framework of the comprehensive modernization and upgrading plan of all elements of the railway system. The trains are part of the ongoing modernization and development of the rolling stock fleet with modern coaches that provide the highest quality services to commuters on the Cairo/Alexandria line. It will be followed by a pilot operation without passengers on the Cairo/Aswan line.

The trains are the first to be delivered as part of the plan to supply 7 Talgo trains from the Spanish company. Six trains have been contracted for between the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) and Talgo Company and the seventh is a gift to the Egyptian people. Each train consists of 15 coaches ( 5 first-class coaches, 8 second-class coaches, a buffet coach, and a power coach. This is in addition to a modern American PRL locomotive.

The trains are characterized by a high operating speed of up to 160 Km/hour. They feature pneumatic systems to absorb vibrations, which ensures complete comfort for passengers at high speeds. The trains are also characterized by chairs dedicated to people of determination, screens for each seat in the first-class wagons and central screens in the second class wagons. This is in addition to WIFI, fire alarm systems, regular toilets and toilets for people of determination as well as surveillance cameras and a security control room.
