- Beni Suef Power Plant is a MILESTONE in the electricity domain in Egypt, operating with the h-class combined power generation cycle technology and based on natural gas with a capacity of 4800 megawatts i.e. worth up to € 2 billion.
- It is located 110 km away off south of Cairo, near the village of Ghayadah, East of the center of Biba south of the governorate , overlooking directly the River Nile from the western side. The plant will offer a window of opportunity for the eastern bank of the Nile in Beni Suef. With that, the village of Ghayadah would attract inhabitants rather than the opposite. The deal was forged in July 2015 to cover an area of 500 thousand square meters.
- The plant consists of 12 turbines, divided between 8 gas turbines and 4 steam turbines, per turbine capacity is 400 MW, operating with a combined power generation cycle. It utilizes a closed-in cooling-tower system; a newly introduced mechanism in Egypt where the condensed steam is cooled by a steam turbine to reach the normal water temperature and then reintroduced to the boiler "Hesrg". Thus, it is self-cooled. The plant functions in three stages: the main area where the turbines are located, the central region and the area overlooking the Nile.
- Phase 1 included the operation of 6 gas turbines using a simple cycle system to supply the national electricity network with 2400 megawatts in 2016. 400 megawatts were added in 2017 in phase 2. Phase 3 included the launch of the project at large marking an extra 4800 megawatts in 2018. The three-year project provides about 20% of the total production of Egypt with the highest generation efficiency of 60%. A $ 27.5 million dual-channel antenna line, connecting Beni Suef Power Plant with West Maghaghah with a capacity of 500 k and 42 km in length was established. The line discharges the energy generated from Beni Suef station and connects it to the national network.
The project is shown in the video attached (2:08:50 to 2:10:14).

Location
- It is located 110 km away off south of Cairo, near the village of Ghayadah, East of the center of Biba south of the governorate , overlooking overlooking the River Nile from the western side. The plant will offer a window of opportunity for the eastern bank of the Nile in Beni Suef. With that, the village of Ghayadah would attract inhabitants rather than the opposite. Contracting system
- (EPC + Finance Contract).
- The value of the contract is € 2 billion. Further, there is a supplementary contract for equipping the site with an estimated value of € 50.9 million.
- Four model units (4xSCC-8000H 2 + 1) with a nominal capacity of 1200 MW per unite and a total capacity of 4800 MW.
- Each unit consists of (2) gas turbines with a nominal capacity of 400 megawatts per turbine, (2) boilers to recapture energy and (1) steam turbine with a nominal capacity of 400 MW.
- Since the plant site is of a mountainous, rocky nature with many high hills and lowlands, drilling and landfill works have been conducted to flatten the road. The site was divided into five levels during this period
The site included four levels of implementation as follows:
- GIS Substation Area, with a level of +70.5 meters.
- Gas and Steam Turbines Area, with a level of +64.5 m.
- Intermediate Area, with a level of +45.5 meters.
- Raw Water Intake Area, + 31.5 m.
More than 1.5 million cubic meters were drilled and removed, most of them are a result of rock cracking operations.
- Approximately 87,000 cubic meters of landfill have been implemented and the amount of landfill is expected to reach 235,000 cubic meters.
- On February 14, 2016, a permit to pump the cooling water needed for the station was obtained and the contractor was authorized to start the construction work of the water outlet building. The construction contractor started to work on that.
- Gas Delivery: On 14/2/2016, the land allocated for natural gas plant of the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) was delivered with dimensions of 120 x 120 meters.
- On 15/2/2016 a permit was obtained to pump the water used in the construction work.
-The project employs a number of subcontractors, who are assigned construction work on the site by EL SEWEDY - PSP, as follows:
- Hassan Allam Sons Company, which is responsible for the construction of the cooling water outlet building, the civil construction of gas turbines (11,12,21, 22) and the civil construction of steam turbines (10 and 20)
- El-Rowad Company, with the activities of the GIS Substation, the GIS Substation Control Building, the Civil Construction of Gas Turbines (41,32,31,42), the Civil Construction of Steam Turbines (30, 40) and part of the works of equipping and flattening the site area.
- SIAC, which is responsible for the construction of Wet Cell Cooling Tower, the construction of the Water Treatment Unit, and part of the works of equipping and flattening the site area.

- GEOS, which is responsible for installing Key Stone Walls,
- Power Company, which is entrusted with the construction work of the main gate building, the permanent clinic and the fire station and part of the works of equipping and flattening the site area.
- On 24/7/2018 the station was inaugurated to operate at full capacity.
- (3) feddans were purchased to complete the construction of the walls arround station to secure them.
- (8) sets of filters for the air intake was purchased for (8) units.
- The environmental monitoring system was installed at a total cost of LE 1.725.020 million.
- All consumables (oils, greases and others) are supplied to the plant.
- Hydrogen is purchased to cool the generators until the completion of the hydrogen generation plant.
- The implementation of the environmental and social management plan and occupational safety and security plans is followed up.
-Plant wall completion works:
Eastern side of the wall is completed.
Western and northern sides of the wall are completed.
Southern side of the wall is completed by 98%.
