The upgrade aims to transform the network's lines from a mechanical system to an electronic one, increasing safety and security levels, boosting the number of trains and trips on the lines, reducing journey time, and eliminating the reliance on human intervention in train operations.
The line extends for 250 kilometers from Beni Suef to Asyut.
The upgraded signaling and control system for the Beni Suef/Asyut railway line has been inaugurated. It includes 1 central control center, 14 main signal towers, 24 secondary signal towers, and 86 automated level crossings.
The project aims to serve passengers and freight in Beni Suef, Minya, and Asyut governorates.
