Culture plays a pivotal role in reshaping public consciousness, as evidenced by the inauguration of Phase I of the development of the Ismailia Palace of Culture. This phase saw the completion of all replacement, renovation, and rehabilitation works for the palace’s affiliated theater. The Ministry of Culture remains committed to its strategy of modernizing cultural facilities and sites, revitalizing their societal role through comprehensive infrastructure upgrades and the integration of cutting-edge technologies.
The theater, which has a seating capacity of 838 spectators, underwent extensive development beginning in February 2020. The scope of work included:
- Upgrading the central air conditioning system, the theater ceiling, and the seating.
- Modernizing lighting and sound systems, stage mechanisms, and specialized stage maintenance.
- Installing a comprehensive civil defense system, a cinema projection screen, and a high-definition video projector.
- Meticulous maintenance of the artistic mural on the palace facade.
The Ismailia Palace of Culture is considered one of the largest cultural landmarks nationwide, spanning an area of 5 feddans (with the building footprint occupying one-third of the total site). Historically, the administrative wing was inaugurated in 1995, followed by the theater in 1997.
