President El-Sisi today received His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that President El-Sisi commended the strong brotherly relations between Egypt and Jordan as well as the significant advance in these relations across various areas. President El-Sisi looks forward to enhancing the already-robust relations to realize the interests of both countries and peoples, whether at the bilateral level or within the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Iraq, particularly highlighting the economic and trade relations.
The President valued the efforts exerted by the Jordanian government to care for the Egyptian community in Jordan.
For his part, His Majesty King Abdullah II expressed Jordan’s deep appreciation for Egypt both at the official and popular levels, and valued the longstanding bonds between both countries.
Jordan’s King also expressed appreciation for the progress achieved in relations at the level of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Iraq.
His Majesty underscored Jordan’s keenness to benefit from Egypt’s development efforts in all areas through the exchange of expertise and the promotion of joint investment, in light of the comprehensive development process and mega national projects which are currently being implemented in Egypt.
The Spokesman noted that the meeting addressed bilateral relations; President El-Sisi and His Majesty King Abdallah II expressed relief at the level of the ongoing coordination between both sides. They also confirmed the importance of promoting economic relations and boosting bilateral trade to the level of political relations and historic bonds both peoples share.
This is in addition to pushing forward cooperation among the relevant authorities in the two countries with regard to efforts made to combat the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the region, particularly the situation in Lebanon. There was also an exchange of views on developments in the Middle East peace process and the ongoing coordination between the two countries.
His Majesty King Abdullah II lauded Egypt’s diligent efforts to firm up the cease fire between the Palestinians and Israelis as well as Egypt’s initiative for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The two sides also agreed on the need to make intensive international efforts to break the impasse in the peace process and resume negotiations. This aims to reach a settlement for the Palestinian crisis based on the resolutions of international legitimacy.
