President El-Sisi Receives Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi at Al-Ittihadiya

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today at Al-Ittihadiya Palace His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President welcomed His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a dear guest, in his second country, Egypt, expressing gratitude for meeting His Highness again to continue consultation and coordination on various issues of common concern and areas of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the historical and strategic Egypt-UAE relations. The foundations for these long-standing relations have been laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahya for decades to come so as to grow stronger by a common, sincere will within a framework of fraternal ties, mutual respect, trust, understanding and a common destiny. Recent years have also proven the effectiveness of these relations in facing the risks threatening the region’s security, the peoples’ interests, and the countries’ capabilities and resources.

In this context, the President praised the great and qualitative development in the Egyptian-Emirati relations in the political, economic, security, and military fields, among others, and the remarkable growth in the commercial exchange rate and the volume of investments, expressing his eagerness to further deepen and develop already-robust relations.

For his part, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed affirmed that his current visit to Egypt comes at the continuation of the distinguished relations between our two brotherly countries and underlined the importance of continuing regular, intensive, and top-level consultation and coordination between Egypt and the UAE on regional issues of common concern. Hence, the two countries’ commitment to deepening the solid strategic alliance between them is reflected and the unity of the Arab and Muslim nations in facing the various challenges encountering the region at the present time is strengthened.

The UAE’s Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi expressed his aspiration that this visit give a new momentum to the solid and extended ties that bind the two countries on the official and popular levels.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi also emphasized the importance of continuing intensive coordination and consultation and pursuing the exchange of views between Egypt and the UAE to address the challenges and crises facing the Arab nation and to stand against interference in the internal affairs of the Arab countries in a manner aimed at destabilizing the security of the region and its people. In this respect, the Crown Prince praised Egypt's pivotal and steadfast role as an essential pillar of security and stability in the region.

The Spokesman added that the meeting touched on a number of the most prominent files in the region, such as Syria, Yemen, Libya and the Palestinian cause; the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and the security of the Red Sea. The two leaders’ discussions reflected a mutual understanding on continuing joint efforts to address the risks threatening the security and stability of the region’s societies, i.e. foreign interventions aimed at serving the agendas of parties that do not want the good of the countries and peoples of the region. In this context, the President asserted Egypt's commitment to its firm stance towards the Gulf security as an extension of the Egyptian national security and rejection of any practices that seek to destabilize it.

The Spokesman mentioned that the meeting discussed ways to enhance the various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, especially at the economic and investment levels. He also said that the two leaders discussed the importance of launching more joint projects in light of the promising investment opportunities available in both countries, as well as ensuring the optimal use of all available fields to enhance integration between them. In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed congratulated His Excellency President El-Sisi on Egypt’s remarkable economic performance and the big leaps Egypt has made in many areas over the past years, which were commended by the international institutions specialized in monitoring economic and financial performance worldwide.

The two sides also talked about the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy. President El-Sisi welcomed the UAE into the EastMed Gas Forum since it has joined the forum as an observer alongside the founding member states. His Excellency expressed the significance of the UAE’s role as it would contribute to serving the strategic interests and enhancing cooperation and partnership between the member states of the forum.

They also discussed joint cooperation efforts to combat the novel coronavirus. In this regard, President El-Sisi expressed his profound appreciation and thanks to the UAE for its cooperation with Egypt. It was agreed to continue coordination, in this regard, between healthcare providers in the two brotherly countries.
