President El-Sisi Attends Dinner Banquet Held by U.S. Chamber of Commerce in His Honor

In Washington, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended a dinner banquet held by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in his honor on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Egypt and the United States. The banquet was attended by the CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Ms. Suzanne Clark, Chairman of the Egypt- U.S. Business Council Mr. John Christmann and heads and directors of several major American companies.

The Spokesperson for the Presidency stated that there was an open dialogue between representatives of the American business sector, who expressed their interest in expanding their existing projects or working in Egypt. President El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness to regularly communicate with investors to be aware of the problems they face to help find solutions to them.

President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the role played by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Egypt- U.S. Business Council in supporting economic and trade relations between Egypt and the United States, emphasizing the importance of the role of the private sector in this regard as a locomotive for growth serving the common interests of the two countries.

The President also referred to the fruitful discussions that His Excellency held during his visit to Washington with a number of American officials, especially on the economic level. The discussions focused on ways to develop economic cooperation, increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, and increase the investment activities of American companies in Egypt, especially in light of the progress achieved at the level of structural economic reform and legislative and institutional structure development aiming to attract more foreign investments to Egypt.

The attendees praised the progress made concerning the economic reform efforts in Egypt, especially through the measures that have been taken to improve the investment environment. They also lauded the major national projects being implemented, which have made Egypt a great example to be followed at the international level, especially In light of the steadfastness shown by the Egyptian economy in facing the successive global crises recently caused by the coronavirus and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

It was also noted that the Egyptian economy witnessed an unexpected growth, surpassing many emerging economies. They expressed their keenness to work during the coming period to boost the American investments in Egypt in various fields, especially health, technology, tourism, and energy- new and renewable energy in particular. These efforts are to be made in light of Egypt's successful hosting of the COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh last November.

The Spokesman added that the President affirmed Egypt's intention to continue reform and development efforts in light of the implementation of Egypt's Vision 2030, stressing Egypt's appreciation for the special strategic relationship with the United States and welcoming in this regard the increased activity of American companies operating in Egypt.

The President also noted that the results of the Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh would promote cooperation between the two sides in various fields, especially in the field of clean and renewable energy. Egypt offers many incentives to international companies to invest in wind energy, solar energy and green hydrogen. These steps taken are part of Egypt’s efforts to become an energy hub in the region. His Excellency affirmed that Egypt aspires that the American companies would take advantage of those available investment opportunities to enhance economic relations between the two friendly countries.
