President El-Sisi’s Speech During ‘Shoulder to Shoulder’ Ceremony

Friday, 17 March 2023 / 07:51 PM

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

The great people of Egypt,
Distinguished guests,

I begin my talk with you by saluting and sending my ultimate pride and appreciation to the great Egyptian people and by congratulating the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, praying to Allah Almighty to bless us in these blessed days with welfare and peace and to surround humanity with blessings and love.

I stand today before you, in a moment in which I feel both honored and proud. I feel honored as I am among the people of the Egyptian nation from all groups and I take pride in today's new victory and the true representation of the meanings of humanity, solidarity and social security. Egyptians have always been the role models and great examples who have been reflecting such meanings, particularly in times of crisis and adversity.

What we are witnessing today is only an affirmation of the will of these valiant people and a demonstration of their ability to turn adversity into opportunities, crisis into success and achievement, a view of humanity. It is a manifestation of solidarity and interdependence whose underlying meaning is devotion and asking Allah for help.

Thanks to those who participated in this success, the volunteers, institutions and actors, under the umbrella of the National Alliance for Civil Development Action and under the umbrella of the Homeland.

Just yesterday, from this place, we witnessed the launch of our greatest national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside, Haya Karima, through which we seek to raise the standard of living of more than 4,000 villages. We aim to achieve real development and improve the quality of life for about 58 million citizens and with a budget of about 700 billion pounds or more.

Today, we are witnessing a new success, written by the hands of loyal Egyptians, in a civil society which aims to support the social protection system, integrating its work with efforts of the government and the private sector. The three sectors collaborate for community development and services provided for citizens, across Egypt, aiming to reach families and the most favored groups and provide community services to them in various axes.

The great people of Egypt,

Nine years ago, in response to your appeal, I had the honor of taking charge of this country, seeking the help of Allah. I was depending on my confidence in the capabilities of the Egyptians, believing that Allah does not will not waste the reward of those who work righteousness in order to uplift this homeland with tireless work and sincere intentions.

The challenges we have faced to get Egypt back on track were highly difficult; however, there were greater persistence and determination to address these challenges so as to achieve the victory in the battles of survival and development.

For many years, we have been committed to keep our home safe and worked for it, seeking peace, security and stability. We have pursued the path of construction and development in which we have faced a lot of difficulties. Nevertheless, every time, we have been able to overcome them and become stronger, tougher and harder afterward.

The honorable people of Egypt,
Brothers and sisters,
Once again, I renew my pledge and sincere promise to move forward toward further work and construction, as we are determined to overcome crises and achieve development, supporting more common spaces among the people of the nation and providing all means for our youth to achieve a future befitting their aspirations. We would achieve this by seeking the help of Allah and believing in the ability of His people to attain the dreams of this homeland, which have not been disregarded, but rather achieved with work and determination.

Hence, I would like to express my gratitude to the great people of Egypt for all their efforts and sacrifices to stand assured today, celebrating much of what have been achieved and will be accomplished to show the world over and over again our abilities to overcome challenges and take the homeland toward the horizons of the future, chanting: Long live Egypt…Long live Egypt…Long live Egypt.

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you”
