The Pound in the Republic Era

During the rule of Mohamed Naguib, the Egyptian pound was reprinted in the design it had in 1950. However, the image of King Farouk I was replaced by the image of Tutankhamun. In May 1952, the Bank issued a new 1-pound banknote. On one of its sides, there is the image of Tutankhamun and on the other side there is the photo of the Temple of Isis on Philae Island.
