Introduction

Egyptian foreign policy has witnessed intense activity over the past seven years. It is based primarily on preserving national interests, achieving balance and diversity in its relationship with various countries of the world, both in the East and West, while opening-up new horizons for cooperation entrenched in the principles of Egyptian policy rooted in promoting peace and stability in the Arab, regional and international arenas. This is in addition to its deep-seated commitment to non-interference in the internal affairs of states, support for fundamentals of mutual respect and solidarity, adherence to the principles of international law, promotion of the role of international organizations, and attentiveness to the economic dimension of international relations. Moreover, Egyptian foreign policy was further moulded by its dedication to the unification of global powers on numerous issues that Egypt has adopted, foremost of which are the issues of terrorism, illegal immigration, and refugees; this has ultimately consolidated Egypt's leverage and role, both regionally and internationally.
