The 'Tahya Misr 1' Container Terminal is one of the most significant national mega-projects implemented at Damietta Port. The terminal features a total berth length of 1,970 meters with depths reaching 18 meters, supported by a backyard area of approximately 922,000 square meters. With an annual handling capacity of 3.5 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), the project significantly bolsters the port’s throughput, operational efficiency, and its ability to accommodate ultra-large container vessels.
The terminal is equipped with 12 state-of-the-art Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes manufactured by China’s HHMC, which are among the most advanced quay cranes globally and capable of handling mega-container ships with massive tonnages. Additionally, the facility features 40 Automatic Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes that utilize sophisticated smart systems for high-precision container positioning and stacking within the storage yards.
