My Brother, Your Excellency President Michael Randrianirina,
President of the brotherly Republic of Madagascar,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome His Excellency the President of the Republic of Madagascar and his accompanying delegation to their second home, Egypt. This visit is of particular significance as it marks the first official bilateral visit by a President of Madagascar to Egypt. It further strengthens the historic and fraternal ties that have united our two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1970 and reflects our shared political will to elevate bilateral relations to broader horizons of cooperation and integration.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
My brother, His Excellency President Michael, and I held constructive and fruitful bilateral talks, during which I reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast support for the sisterly Republic of Madagascar during this critical transitional phase.
I was keen to express Egypt's full support for the sincere national efforts undertaken by the authorities in Madagascar to implement the roadmap and the state-building process, while fulfilling the aspirations of the brotherly Malagasy people.
On this basis, and stemming from our firm belief in the priority of solidarity among brotherly nations, Egypt reaffirms its readiness to share its expertise and technical capabilities, particularly in the field of institutional capacity-building, with the people of Madagascar in support of their efforts to consolidate the foundations of stability.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
During our discussions, we agreed on the importance of building upon the potentials of our two countries, seizing promising investment opportunities, and fostering our economic and trade relations to address the current regional and international challenges in a manner that serves our mutual interests and contributes to the development and prosperity of our peoples, leveraging our membership in COMESA.
In this regard, I expressed our pride in the role played by the Egyptian private sector in Madagascar and its effective contribution to strategic infrastructure projects. I also reiterated the readiness of Egyptian companies to expand their engagement in the fields of energy, water management and desalination, agriculture, and healthcare, thereby transferring Egypt's comprehensive development experience to our brothers in Madagascar.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
As part of our joint efforts to develop the institutional framework for bilateral cooperation, we witnessed today the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding, which represent a strong impetus for the trajectory of our bilateral relations.
In this context, I would like to welcome the decision of His Excellency President Michael to consider establishing a resident diplomatic representation for the Republic of Madagascar in Cairo. We highly value this step, as it reflects the sincere keenness to strengthen continuous engagement between our two countries.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We also discussed a number of regional and international issues, and I noted the convergence of views between our two countries. My brother, President Michael, and I agreed to maintain our close coordination to safeguard the security and stability of our African continent’s countries.
In the same context, President Michael and I emphasized the importance of concerted international efforts to support African countries in addressing the repercussions of climate change, in line with the unified African position on this issue. We also took into account the fact that Egypt and Madagascar are among the African countries most affected by climate change. I reaffirmed Egypt's full solidarity with Madagascar in confronting environmental challenges, in continuation of Egypt's long-standing approach of supporting brotherly African countries,which was recently demonstrated in our support to Madagascar in overcoming the impact of Cyclone Gezani.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
In conclusion, I once again welcome you to Egypt. I wish the brotherly people of Madagascar continued progress, welfare, and prosperity. I look forward to continuing our joint efforts and coordination for the benefit of our two countries and our precious African continent.
