President El-Sisi Follows Upon Progress in Establishing Unified National Emergency Response Network

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik, Minister of Health and Population Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, Governor of Port Said Mr. Adel El-Ghadban, and Director of the Signal Department of the Armed Forces Major General Prof. Bakr Abdel-Wahab as well as Head of the Military Mobile Network Committee Major General Amr Abdel Meguid.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that during the meeting, the progress in the establishment of the unified network for emergency response and public safety services was monitored.

In this context, the President was updated on the developments of establishing the national network which aims to achieve full control and promote cooperation among all parties to quickly contain and deal with all types of emergencies, crises and disasters within a limited period of time.

It also seeks to support sustainable development plans through using modern communication technology within a unified and fully secure network for all concerned authorities in the country in accordance with the latest international standards.

Hence, this network will serve as the backbone of the state agencies for the emergency response services and will achieve a speedy response in dealing with various emergency calls.

In the same context, the results of the trial of this network, whose first phase was launched in Port Said, were presented in preparation for applying the system to all governorates.

The network connects all emergency response agencies and vital facilities, such as the ambulance and health care authorities; petroleum and electricity sectors; and traffic and civil protection agencies, through a main center and a specialized operations room in each governorate to receive emergency reports from citizens.

The President gave instructions to continue studying and evaluating all the results of the trial run in Port Said to devise the best national model for providing emergency response services to citizens through a unified and fully secure national network, in accordance with the highest international standards.

Spokesman added that the President was updated on the precautionary measures taken for the COVID 19 pandemic prevention and the latest developments on the COVID 19 vaccine supply, whether vaccines being manufactured locally or those to be imported.

The Minister of Health stated that about 80 million doses would be locally manufactured by the end of this year, bringing the total number of the locally-manufactured and imported doses in Egypt to around 146 million doses.

In this respect, Dr. Hala Zayed further showcased the Ministry’s efforts in preparing various offices, distributed across all governorates, providing COVID-19 vaccinations for travelers.

The President issued directives to increase the local manufacturing of the COVID-19 vaccines and to continue coordination with international partners and the COVAX Facility allocating additional COVID-19 vaccines to support the national vaccination plan.
