President El-Sisi Follows-up on Public Health Initiatives and Improving Health Services Nationwide

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghafar, and Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the meeting followed-up on public health initiatives and improving health care services in basic care units nationwide.

President El-Sisi was briefed on mechanisms for improving the system of delivering health care services in basic care units, including those within the scope of the Decent Life initiative. This aims at increasing operation rates, raising their construction efficiency, and supporting the services provided therein.

The President directed allocating incentive packages for medical staff working in basic care units, as well as providing them with all medicines and necessary devices to help them carry out their role to the fullest. He also gave directives to add specialized clinics for the services of basic care units nationwide, which will help deliver health services for young people who are getting married. The clinics are also to follow-up on cases of patients with chronic diseases, and provide care for the elderly as well as emergency services around the clock in some basic care units. The President also stressed the need to study providing home services for the elderly and people with special needs.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar offered an overview of ongoing efforts to improve the health of the Egyptian family and strengthen reproductive health and family planning programs. The President emphasized the need to hold an annual conference with the participation of all relevant experts, to address the health conditions nationwide and the various services and initiatives provided in this regard. This conference shall also contribute to the health awareness process, particularly with regard to providing family planning services, and spreading community awareness regarding the importance of the population issue and its impact on the health of the mother, child and family through reproductive health.

President El-Sisi also stressed on the importance of the organization of integrated action plans, including the launch of the Knock on Doors campaign . This aims to ensure providing reproductive health services and benefiting all groups in the governorates, villages and hamlets, in order to achieve the largest possible coverage of these services.

The President was also briefed on progress in the implementation of national projects in the health sector, the accomplishment rates, and the timeline for completing each project. He underlined the necessity to adhere to the timelines for the completion of these projects and to remove any obstacles that impede their prompt implementation. Those include in particular the project to develop the Nasser Institute for Research and Treatment to become the integrated Nile Medical City.

President El-Sisi confirmed the importance of working to increase investment rates in the fields of health care, in accordance with international standards for providing health care services, and of expanding partnerships with the private sector. This will lead to improving the quality of health care services provided to citizens in accordance with international health standards, particularly with regard to developing a number of major hospitals nationwide, including the hospitals of Umm Al-Masryein, Heliopolis, El Maadi Charity , and the Coptic Hospital.

The meeting also discussed work progress in the Capital Medical City in the New Administrative Capital, which houses a new hospital with a capacity of 300 beds. This is in addition to efforts to develop the Central Laboratories Department in Badr City, as well as efforts to develop the public ambulance facility to expand emergency services.
