Monday, 01 March 2021 / 05:20 PM

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Justice Counselor Omar Marwan.

As stated by the Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, the meeting discussed the development process of real estate registry system and the government’s efforts in this regard.

The President was updated on the efforts made to facilitate procedures concerning property registration for the citizens. In this regard, His Excellency gave directives for postponing the implementation of law no. 187 / 2020 on the amendment of real estate registry. The deferral will be for a minimum of a two-year period to allow a community discussion and the government shall prepare a draft law to defer the said law.

The President also made it clear that during the transition period, a fixed, discounted, clear value shall be deducted upon registry in accordance with the property’s area and type, instead of the taxation on property disposition.

The Minister of Justice, hence, presented the details of real estate inventory and development system and the efforts made by the government in this regard regarding the governance of the issuance of building permits. He also presented the efforts related to removing violations on state properties, as well as allowing reconciliation regarding violating properties in a controlled manner. Another discussed point was providing slum dwellers with licensed properties; this system aims to ensure citizens’ ownership of property and a controlled real estate market and to eradicate buildings without permits and slums.

The Spokesman also added that the meeting discussed the results of the development of linking justice courts with police facilities regarding the remote extension of pretrial detention. The President called for expanding this application in various governorates in the coming period since it brought about positive results. These efforts are made in parallel with those exerted to develop the courts nationwide.

His Excellency also gave directives for studying the plan of constructing a city of justice in the New Administrative Capital. This city shall include centralized justice-court complex, study center and other related service establishments. The city shall also provide various housing units for the administrative and government staff in the NAC, including members of the judicial authorities and bodies and employees of the Ministry of Justice. As a starter, registration will soon open for them.
