President El-Sisi Receives Speaker of the Arab Parliament

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mr. Adel Al-Asoumi, in the presence of Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Dr. Hanafi Jabali and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed strengthening the role of the Arab Parliament for the sake of encouraging dialogue and democracy.

The President welcomed the Arab Parliament Speaker Al-Asoumi in Egypt, stressing Egypt's full support for the Arab Parliament as a platform that has reflected and considered concerns of the Arab public opinion with respect to various vital issues. The President added that the Arab Parliament’s role further contributed to consolidating stability, as a popular force for developing the Arab work system and an active partner in serving the higher interests of the Arab nation and strengthening ties between its peoples.

For his part, Mr. Al-Asoumi expressed his honor to meet President El-Sisi, commending Egypt's role in promoting joint Arab action at various levels, including the Arab Parliament, given Egypt's pioneering parliamentary experience. Mr. Al-Asoumi also highlighted the unprecedented development process, extending to all aspects of life, that Egypt is currently witnessing under the leadership of the President.

The Arab Parliament Speaker also emphasized the President's role in preserving Arab national security, which has been clearly and strongly manifested over the past years in his way of addressing various Arab issues, particularly the announced lines by His Excellency concerning the foreign interference in Libya, which directly contributed to undermining the risks.

In this respect, President El-Sisi affirmed that these announced lines aimed primarily at achieving balance and preserving the political course of the Libyan issue. The President also stressed that the unified positions would enable Arab countries to set similar lines in order to safeguard Arab national security and consider its major determinants in all aspects.
