President El-Sisi Holds Meeting to Discuss Implementation Status of Developing Informal Areas

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Governor of Cairo Mr. Khaled Abdel Aal, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Staff Major General Ehab El-Far.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, during the meeting, the implementation status of plans and efforts to develop informal and unsafe residential areas in the vicinity of Cairo was presented.

In this context, President El-Sisi was briefed on the efforts and phases of the urban projects aimed at developing these areas across Cairo and raising their engineering, organizational and environmental standards. His Excellency gave directives, in this regard, for pursuing these efforts with the aim of developing these areas, providing a decent housing for citizens, and improving their standard of living.

The Minister of Housing also presented the developments in the Urban Regeneration project for Historic Cairo, especially in the areas of Fustat and the vicinity of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. President El-Sisi gave directives for redoubling efforts aimed at developing Historic Cairo to highlight its role as a cultural, civilizational and tourism center as well as the expansion efforts in the new urban communities that are being implemented nationwide.

The Spokesman added that the Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces presented the construction and implementation status of El-Galala City, including its hotels chain and resorts, as well as the future expansion of investment in the region. In this context, President El-Sisi called for devoting attention to enhancing civil coordination within the city and developing the various provided services in a manner that is consistent with the unique tourist location of the region.
