After Egypt was proclaimed an independent kingdom under the reign of King Ahmed Fuad I, banknotes started to carry his name. In 1924, the banknotes had the image of Bedouins and a camel in front of Cairo's Walls and Citadel. On the back, there were decorations in the middle of which was written "National Bank of Egypt" and the paper's denomination.
