Development of Alexandria University Hospitals

The hospitals of Alexandria University are seeing unprecedented development operations to provide the best and highest quality of medical healthcare to all citizens. The hospitals are now equipped with the latest technologies needed to achieve the best services provided that can be witnessed by citizens.
The Ministry of Higher Education provides support to the university hospitals so as to offer high-quality medical services to Egyptian citizens.


• Inauguration of the Medical Training Center:
It contains 8 lecture halls, a training room, an operation theater, computer laboratory, digital library, and a large auditorium to host symposiums and conferences and it can take up to 300 persons.
The center is equipped with the latest available technologies to ensure the trainings are perfectly done. Moreover, the training center is to receive doctors from all over the Middle East and Africa; it is not limited to Egyptian doctors.


• Construction of the New Toxicology Center in the central hospital of the university:
The center includes 30 beds in addition to others in the intensive care unit and a clinical pharmacy. The center will start providing pharmaceutical consultation in two months. It is the only center in the governorates of lower Egypt that provides this service. It was taken into consideration while constructing the center to have it equipped according to the latest standards regarding infection control and operating methods with a total cost of EGP 5 million.


• Construction and development of spinal surgeries unit, development of the pediatric neurosurgery unit and construction of the pediatric neurosurgery intensive care unit:
These units accommodate 45 inpatient beds. The main auditorium in the department was renovated and equipped with the latest display screens for educational purposes with a total cost of EGP 8.050 million.


• Development of the oncology and nuclear medicine department:
All clinics in the department are undergoing development. Computer networks are used to connect the patients’ database with all universities hospitals – as per the digitalization plan of the State. The department received the latest “mammogram” machine as part of the latest Presidential initiative to encourage women to do checkups for early breast-cancer detection.
A Computed Tomography (CT) simulator has been included in the department and a radiotherapy unit has been established with its license. The internal wards, patients’ rooms and chemotherapy rooms were also renovated with a total renovation cost for the entire department amounted to EGP 24.18 million.


• Al-Mouwasat University Hospital:
The kidney dialysis unit is now equipped with 20 dialysis machines with a total cost of EGP 4.2 million.

• Al-Hadra University Hospital:
The first and second floors were renovated and upgraded to accommodate 9 operation theaters. An intensive care unit in which there are 5 beds was established. The hospital was renovated at a total cost of more than EGP 13 million.
