President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi opened this project via video conference (34:26 to 40:51).
The Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company SUMED is the strong hand of help that is extended to the Egyptian state so as to help it become a regional center for energy trade in the region. The inauguration of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the marine dock project came to end many crises that the General Petroleum Corporation was exposed to, after the Egyptian state was paying to private ports a lot of money.
The Arab Petroleum Pipeline Company SUMED was established in 1974, where 50% of oil is taken by Egypt and the other 50% is taken by the rest of the Arab countries. In the presentation the President of the company made before President El-Sisi, he made it clear that the marine dock is 3000 meters long and 12 meters wide and contains 3 marinas, two with a water depth of 19 meters and the other is with a water depth of 15 meters to moor the products of petroleum tankers with sizes up to 16 thousand tons.
The warehouses include a group designated for the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation with a capacity of 130 thousand cubic meters and another group designated for Saudi Aramco with a capacity of 165 thousand cubic meters for storage re-export.
Experts from the Petroleum Authority said that SUMED dock, which was built in Ain Sokhna, is a major achievement made by the Ministry of Petroleum and by SUMED in particular. The project has provided 3000 job opportunities as well.
