President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi raised the Egyptian flag on the helicopter carrier "Gamal Abdel Nasser" of the Mistral class, which represents a qualitative leap achieved by the Egyptian navy, in addition to raising the Egyptian flag on "Ahmed Fadel" missile corvette.


President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the inauguration of a group of special units in the Southern Fleet in the Red Sea, and the opening of the headquarters and units of the Southern Fleet via video conference.

The carrier is 199 meters in length and 32 meters in width. Its speed is 18.5 knots, its caisson is 6.5 meters and the height of the ship is 58 meters. The sailing range is 30 days; 10,000 miles, 18000 km at a speed of 15 knots. It could stay sailing up to 70 days with limited speeds. 

The carrier is divided into 12 decks, 5 of which are for the loading of aircraft and combat vehicles. It is allowed to store "12-20" Hull aircrafts, and it can be loaded with 35 armored vehicles; each vehicle would be of 13 tons.

The load of the carrier comes to 17 tons and it is allowed to load 55 types of armored vehicles. It is used to load vehicles and slaughterhouses up to 60 tons.

In case there are no aircrafts loaded, the surface could take up to 30 vehicles, the hangar could take 35 vehicles, the upper vehicle deck could take 55 vehicles, and the lower vehicle deck can take 6 tanks, 3 vehicles. In case there is no transportation is loaded, 24 tanks could be loaded.

The ship is also equipped with a fire control system, command and control systems, and the carrier has 7 radar systems for command and control work. There is also a field hospital equipped with a capacity of 69 beds and operations rooms.

The carrier has an equipped gymnasium and training hall for special and self-defense units and the surface area of ​​the flight can be used to carry out jogging.

The circumference of the roof is roughly equivalent to the circumference of a football field, and fitness queues. There is also a recreational broadcasting system that includes 7 satellite TV receivers and it is equipped with a mobile antenna integration unit, as well as a satellite radio receiver.
