National Projects in Integrated Animal Production Field

According to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the framework of the state’s efforts to develop animal wealth and maximize its products and in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, the National Service Products Organization has planned to implement several integrated projects in this field and complementary activities related to them. These projects are represented in the establishment of several farms for breeding and stall-feeding cattle and other farms for raising livestock for dairy production and the creation of modern integrated automatic abattoirs in addition to factories for various dairy and meat. This is done in pursuit of the following:

 

  • Contributing with the specialized state agencies to reducing the food gap regarding one of the most important sources of protein and providing them in large quantities, high quality and appropriate prices.
  • Reducing the import rates of some important food items, such as meat, poultry, and some dairy products.
  • Contributing to the implementation of productive projects that support comprehensive development plans in Egypt and enhance their national security, especially food security for citizens.
  • Achieving mutual complementarity between the activities of the diversified National Service Products Organization, such as agricultural production projects, feed factories, animal production projects and dairy factories. This aims to cover investments return and reduce the costs of the final products.
  • Providing many job opportunities that are suitable for all specialties and qualifications.

 

Implementing new projects for animal and dairy production in Egypt is of a great importance. The organization has implemented several projects in several locations that contribute to developing livestock and its various products and maximizing the return from it. These projects are represented in the integrated animal production complex in Yousuf El-Siddiq city in Fayoum on an area of 485 feddans. It includes 3 farms for farms for breeding and stall-feeding cattle with a total capacity of 18 thousand animals and automatic abattoirs consisting of 2 lines. It was constructed according to the latest international regulations and all health and environmental requirements. There is a factory Among these projects also for preparing and packing various meat products, a factory for producing packed corned beef and an outlet for selling food commodities on an area of 1,000 square meters.

 

In this complex, the largest scientific center for veterinary research and training has been established on an area of 13 thousand square meters and includes a group of equipped lecture halls and laboratories. Also, coordination has been made with some colleges of veterinary medicine to take advantage of the center’s distinguished capabilities in the educational process. Through video conference, 4 animal production complexes were opened in Nubaria with a total capacity of 40,000 livestock. The projects that were opened today provided more than 4,200 new direct job opportunities for young people in various specialties.

The general plan of the project includes:

  •   Complexes for the production of meat and milk.
  •   Modern automatic abattoirs and meat and canned food factories.
  •   Dairy products factories.
  • About 25,000 feddans for growing fodder crops for the project, with a total of 22 sites in 9 governorates. This is in addition to the farm's infrastructure and administrative structure, in coordination with the Egyptian universities, the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant international organizations such as the World Organization for Animal Health and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
  • Contributes to bridging the food gap.
  • Introduces new genetically modified breeds to the local market.
  • Gradually phasing out importing and relying on genetically modified and locally produced breeds .

Through some measures that will contribute to the formation and clarification of the upcoming work plan of the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of livestock:

 • Livestock database shall be finalized rapidly and the numbering project for livestock in Egypt shall be completed.

 • Full coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and the National Service Products Organization shall be made to import genetically modified breeds livestock and implement quarantine, follow-up and immunization procedures.

 • Selecting breeds of Egyptian buffalo and Italian buffalo shall be highlighted.

 • IVF centers of preserving the genetically modified breeds shall be developed.

  • West Minya farm for genetically modified buffaloes

This farm was established on an area of ​​15 feddans.

The goal of this farm is providing a practical model that is suitable for desert conditions in the western region of Minya.

 

  • Nubaria farm for livestock breeding and dairy production

This farm was established on an area of ​​6 feddans.

The goal of this farm is providing a practical model for young breeders and producing genetically modified breeds.
