Medical and Industrial Gas Plant and Hydrogen Peroxide Plant

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi opened Medical and Industrial Gas Plant and Hydrogen Peroxide Plant with 50% concentration, at the headquarters of the Nasr Company for Intermediate Chemicals in Abu Rawash. The plant contributes to covering the local market’s needs for medical oxygen that is necessary for hospitals and medical centers and supports many productive projects. It also has industrial uses in the companies of petroleum products, paper and textiles, and a number of food and pharmaceutical industries. These projects have been implemented in cooperation with many civil companies.

The opening ceremony started upon the arrival of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the headquarters of the El-Nasr Company, where he listened to a detailed orientation of the project.

The factories were established on an area of ​​46 thousand square meters in Abu Rawash, making the total number of factories in this complex reach 19 factories that produce many types of fertilizers, pesticides and various medical and industrial gases.

The medical and industrial gas plant that was opened is the third factory of the company in the field of medical and industrial gas production, amid the growing importance of the products of these factories to cover the needs of the local market, the most important of which is the medical oxygen needed for hospitals and medical centers, especially in light of the continuous increase in the distinct product of the company Victory for Intermediate Chemicals. This is in addition to the importance of the factory's products of nitrogen and argon gases, which are necessary for many production operations, especially in industrial uses in petroleum product companies, and about the production capacity of the medical gas plant and Industrial.

The Director of National Service Projects confirmed that the plant amounts to about 2200 m^3 / hour of oxygen, 900 m^3 / hour of nitrogen and about 100 m ^3 /hour of argon gas. As for the hydrogen peroxide plant, the first of its kind in Egypt, contributes to many industries. Its products are used in the manufacture of paper and textiles and many of the pharmaceutical and petroleum products industries. Its importance will increase as its production will the local market fully self-sufficient so there will be no need to import such products; even more, the surplus could be exported.

The goal of establishing this factory is to cover the needs of the medical sector in light of the establishment of many new hospitals and the increasing demand for oxygen produced within the company. One of the goals also is to produce nitrogen and argon needed for industrial purposes and the production processes of petroleum and various factories. This need was clearly evident during the drilling of gas wells of Zohr Field since there was a high demand for argon gas, indicating the important role of the company and its clear contributions in supplying the Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company “Petrojet” with these industrial gases.

By establishing this factory, the company's capacity to produce medical and industrial gases doubled. The medical and industrial gas plants produce annually 32 million liters of oxygen, 15 million liters of nitrogen, 1 million liters of argon, and  150 tons of medical nitrous oxide, 120 thousand m^3 of acetylene. The factory also supplies about one hundred specialized hospitals and medical centers with gas and liquid oxygen, in addition to supplying the Egyptian Ambulance Authority in Cairo and Giza with about 30 thousand oxygen gas cylinders annually. The company has created a new service for hospitals and specialized medical centers, which is the establishment of medical networks to deliver oxygen and air to patients' rooms, intensive care and operating rooms.

Almost twenty civil companies were involved in the supplying, construction, manufacturing of local equipment, installations and operations, and some Egyptian companies working in the textile industry were supplied with the new product of hydrogen peroxide.

In the field of environmental safety and in accordance with the system of preserving the environmental safety at the main headquarters to prevent any harmful emissions from factories and to comply with environmental requirements according to international standards, the company has undertaken many additional environmental measures in favor of manufacturers. These measures are represented in supplying the tower of the Medical and Industrial Gases Factory with a silencer to reduce the noise rate, establishing a unit for separating and treating the solvents in the hydrogen peroxide plant, establishing an additional unit for treating the industrial wastes of the manufacturers and recycling the water used in industrial process and irrigating green spaces and devoting attention to increasing green spaces.
