Sunday, 04 October 2026 / 02:51 PM

"In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate"

Your Excellency President Évariste Ndayishimiye
President of the Republic of Burundi and Chairperson of the African Union,
Leaders of African Union member states,
Your Excellency Mahmoud Ali Youssouf
Chairperson of the African Union Commission,
Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,
At the conclusion of our 8th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting, I extend to you all my utmost gratitude and appreciation for the distinguished views you have presented today. These reflect the outcome of diligent and valued efforts to enhance frameworks of cooperation, integration, and cohesion across our African continent, in fulfillment of our peoples' aspirations and the goals of Agenda 2063.
Our discussions today, from the city of El Alamein, have underscored the scope of the achievements made, our steady progress toward continental integration and cohesion, and the development of coordination frameworks between the African Union, regional economic communities, and regional mechanisms.
The discussions also reflected the magnitude of current challenges, which require us to pool our efforts and continue joint action and cooperation, as continental integration has become a strategic choice and an urgent necessity to overcome these obstacles, grounded in our firm belief in a shared destiny and common purpose.
The final declaration issued from our meeting today provides us with a clear roadmap to advance regional and continental integration efforts.
In this vein, I would like to emphasize the importance of accelerating the pace of economic and trade integration through the full operationalization of the African Continental Free Trade Area, enhancing efforts to build supply chains and logistical corridors, and developing and connecting transport and energy networks.
I would also like to highlight the pressing need for securing sustainable and innovative financing for development programs and projects, in cooperation with continental financial institutions. This is in addition to the importance of linking sustainable development, economic growth, peace, and security on the continent. This requires us to bolster conflict prevention efforts, develop the early warning mechanism, and consolidate reconstruction and development efforts, while maximizing and activating the role of the African Union Centre for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development in Cairo and increasing its allocated budget to enable it to perform more effectively.
Your Excellencies,
We were honored yesterday by your presence at the inauguration of the first edition of Alamein Africa Forum. We keenly look forward today to your valuable participation in the official luncheon, which will be attended by a distinguished group of prominent African investors.
This gathering constitutes an important opportunity for us as leaders to listen to the private sector's perspectives on ways to support and activate efforts toward economic and trade integration and cohesion in our continent, to make optimal use of the human and natural resources and promising investment opportunities with which Africa is endowed, and to interact with their proposals regarding attractive and encouraging legislative and executive environments for investment.
In conclusion, I extend my profound appreciation to my brother, His Excellency President Évariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi, for his wise leadership of the African Union's work during the current year and for his astute management of this meeting. I wish His Excellency continued success and guidance in completing his tenure leading the Union.
I would also like to express my appreciation to Their Excellencies the heads of the regional economic communities and regional mechanisms, to His Excellency Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and to all leaders of the Commission, the regional economic communities, and regional mechanisms. I commend their valued efforts in supporting the path of regional integration and cohesion on our continent.
I renew Egypt's full commitment to joint action and cooperation with our brothers and sisters in the continent's nations to achieve a safe, stable, and prosperous Africa.
Thank you.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon you.
