“In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”
Your Excellency Dr. Anwar Ibrahim,
Prime Minister of Malaysia,
I express my deep gratitude to my dear friend, His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Anwar Ibrahim, and I reaffirm full respect and appreciation to you and your great country.
I am extremely pleased to have completed this visit and deeply appreciate the warm reception and generous hospitality extended by you and His Majesty King Sultan Ibrahim. I would also like to express my gratitude for your invitation and for giving me the opportunity to visit your great country.
In this regard, and as an expression of my appreciation and respect for His Majesty the King and His Excellency the Prime Minister, allow me to renew my invitation for both of you to visit Egypt.
I would like to point out that our meetings, which received extensive media coverage, reflected the significant progress in relations and cooperation between our two countries across all fields. I reaffirm that our relations will always be founded on mutual respect and a shared intent to advance cooperation in all fields.
I would also like to express my gratitude to His Majesty the King and His Excellency the Prime Minister for awarding me Malaysia’s highest state honor, the Order of the Crown of the Realm (Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara), reflecting the deep mutual esteem between our two countries.
I would further emphasize that there is a high degree of mutual understanding, readiness, and shared political will between myself and His Excellency the Prime Minister to advance relations across various fields. We will submit all the matters agreed upon to the joint committee between our two countries, which is scheduled to convene during the first quarter of 2027. This committee plays a vital role in advancing relations across all areas of mutual interest and addressing all matters related to boosting bilateral cooperation.
We always seek to open up new horizons for cooperation and make optimal use of each country’s capabilities, particularly given the considerable potential available to both sides. I assure you that if we cooperate with sincerity, the outcomes will be monumental. We look forward to cooperating in priority sectors, including new and renewable energy, industry, electronics, agriculture, and food industries.
We also held extensive discussions on the importance of training religious preachers to promote moderation and a balanced approach. I noted that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is a venerable institution that has fulfilled this role for more than a thousand years and welcomes students from countries around the world, including Malaysia. We are prepared to increase the number of Malaysian students studying at Al-Azhar, and we are equally ready to welcome religious preachers and teachers from Malaysia.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Our discussions today provided an opportunity to exchange views on the rapid developments at both the international and regional levels. His Excellency the Prime Minister and I agreed on the importance of de-escalation and prioritizing diplomatic solutions to resolve various crises, thereby contributing to achieving peace and supporting development for countries and peoples around the world.
I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate Egypt’s continued and tireless efforts to halt the escalation in the Middle East. This requires concerted efforts by all parties to work toward establishing peace and upholding international law, particularly with regard to respecting the sovereignty of states, preserving their territorial integrity, and refraining from interfering in their internal affairs.
In this context, His Excellency the Prime Minister and I discussed developments concerning the Palestinian cause, which remains the central issue in the region. We emphasized the necessity of a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and based on the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This is the sole path toward achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
I would also like to commend Malaysia’s supportive stance on the Palestinian cause and its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
In the same context, I reaffirm the necessity of ensuring the full and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Egypt reiterates its categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people, alter the demographic composition of Palestinian territories, or fragment them. This is particularly important in light of the alarming developments in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the expansion of settlement activities, and attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
His Excellency the Prime Minister and I also exchanged views on several other issues, including the situation in the Horn of Africa as well as in the Red Sea. I underscored that reaching comprehensive political settlements is the only way to end all crises in the region. I reaffirm our complete consensus that diplomatic and political engagement is the best means of addressing crises.
Your Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Anwar Ibrahim, I was delighted to meet with you today. I wish Malaysia and its brotherly people continued progress and prosperity, and I look forward to the continued cooperation between our two countries in pursuit of the interests of the Islamic world.
Thank you very much.
