On the Official Visit of His Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Indonesia
Jakarta, October 2026
1- At the invitation of His Excellency President Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, paid an official visit to the Republic of Indonesia on October 10–11, 2026. This visit follows the previous visits undertaken by President Prabowo to Egypt in December 2024, April 2025, and October 2025.
2- During the visit, an official welcoming ceremony was held for President El-Sisi at Merdeka Presidential Palace, followed by bilateral talks with President Prabowo Subianto and an official state luncheon. The two Presidents exchanged views on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest and witnessed the exchange of several bilateral documents aimed at strengthening the Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and Egypt.
3- The two Presidents reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing political cooperation and coordination through regular high-level exchanges and the activation of existing bilateral mechanisms, including the Joint Commission Meetings. In this context, the Plan of Action for the Strategic Partnership between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Indonesia, agreed upon during the visit, reflects both countries' shared commitment to advancing their strategic partnership.
4- The two Presidents welcomed the steadily growing defense and security cooperation between the two countries, rooted in mutual collaboration, and agreed to deepen and expand its scope to strengthen their respective national capabilities.
5- The two Presidents affirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral trade and economic cooperation by leveraging the vast potential and opportunities available to both sides, expanding market access, facilitating business and investment engagement, enhancing the effectiveness of the Joint Trade Committee, and advancing joint manufacturing projects in priority sectors.
6- The two Presidents welcomed the tangible progress made in advancing strategic cooperation between Indonesia's "Danantara" and Egypt's "Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development" agency, reflecting their shared commitment to bolstering bilateral economic and investment relations. They emphasized the promising opportunities for cooperation in the production and distribution of crude palm oil and its derivatives, as well as phosphate fertilizers and related raw materials, thereby encouraging mutually beneficial investments and enhancing trade exchanges between the two countries. Furthermore, the two Presidents encouraged both entities to build upon the agreements reached, advance joint investment opportunities, and expand cooperation to encompass other strategic sectors, including infrastructure, energy, logistics, and agribusiness.
7- Building upon the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the peoples of Egypt and Indonesia, the two Presidents agreed to enhance people-to-people relations by broadening cooperation in education, culture, language, and youth engagement. This includes expanding academic and institutional partnerships, student and school exchange programs, and launching a new partnership for capacity building and technical cooperation through the establishment of a framework for mutually agreed programs, enabling both countries to leverage their joint capabilities and achieve advanced development goals.
8- President Prabowo welcomed the decision issued by Al-Azhar University in November 2025 to include the Indonesian language within the curriculum of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, while encouraging the continued enhancement of cooperation in Arabic language education in Indonesia.
9- The two presidents underscored the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens of both countries, and encouraged enhanced cooperation between the competent authorities on consular matters and the provision of necessary assistance, in accordance with applicable national laws and regulations.
10- In light of the rapid geopolitical and global challenges, the two presidents emphasized the importance of achieving greater strategic alignment and close coordination between Indonesia and Egypt in multilateral and regional forums.
11- The two presidents expressed grave concern over the continued violence and Israeli military operations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. They also condemned Israel’s illegal settlement policies and activities and called for their immediate and complete cessation, in accordance with the provisions of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
12- The two presidents reiterated their unwavering support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, viable, and geographically contiguous State of Palestine, along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, international law, and relevant United Nations resolutions.
13- The two presidents reaffirmed their categorical rejection of any attempts aimed at the forced displacement or expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland under any pretext. They reiterated their commitment to achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace, including through the full implementation of President Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza. The Indonesian side expressed its appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, affirming its commitment to continue providing humanitarian support to the Palestinian people.
14- Regarding the situation in the Gulf region, the two presidents expressed deep concern over the continued escalation and the expanding hostilities, resulting in serious repercussions for regional security and stability, the safety of civilians, freedom of navigation, energy security, and the global economy. They called for immediate de-escalation and for all parties to exercise the utmost restraint. They also emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, adhering to international law and the UN Charter, and resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
15- The two presidents acknowledged the growing challenges posed by climate change and water scarcity, as well as their repercussions for water and food security, sustainable development, and regional stability. In this context, the Indonesian side noted the vital importance of Nile water security for Egypt. Both sides emphasized the importance of full adherence to the principles of international law governing transboundary watercourses, including the principle of not causing harm.
16- President Sisi expressed his sincere appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation during the visit, wishing the friendly people of Indonesia continued progress and prosperity.
