President El-Sisi Reviews Progress in the Implementation of Engineering Authority Projects

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Advisor to the President for Urban Planning, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Major General Hesham El-Swefy. The meeting was also attended by officials from the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the meeting reviewed progress in a number of projects implemented by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority nationwide, particularly in the sectors of roads and bridges, construction and architectural projects as well as projects in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting reviewed efforts underway to develop Nasser Institute for Research and Treatment Hospital in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. These efforts include adding new buildings, renovating the existing main buildings, adding new departments and new specialized medical units, increasing the capacity of the various departments and adding 1000 more beds. This is in addition to increasing the number of operation rooms, kidney units and services’ facilities.

President El-Sisi gave directives to convert the institute into an integrated medical city, increase its accommodation capacity, and enhance the efficiency of its infrastructure with the assistance of international consulting expertise in this field, taking into consideration the fact that the institute is one of the important pillars of the healthcare system in Egypt.

The meeting also reviewed the development process of roads and axes in Greater Cairo and the development of Gamal Abdel Nasser axis which is one of the key axes in new Cairo.

The discussions touched on progress in the construction of a number of facilities in the New Administrative Capital as well as efforts to link the Strategic Command in the Administrative Capital with the surrounding roads and axes networks, particularly the Middle Ring-road and the Regional Ring-road.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to develop facilities, infrastructure, axes, and roads in Sharm El-Sheikh in preparation for hosting the Global Climate Summit in the city next November. The development process underway in Al Ruwaisat area in Sharm El-Sheikh and enhancing the capacity of the residential and Bedouin communities and workshop complex in the area were also reviewed.
