Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, and Minister of Transport, Lieutenant-General, Eng. Kamel Al Wazir.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the meeting followed-up on the ministry of transport’s projects and activities nationwide.

Minister Al Wazir reviewed the ongoing development process of the ports’ system nationwide, particularly with regard to the executive status of the larger Alexandria Port, which includes El Dekheila Port, Al Max Port and the main Alexandria Port. This is, in addition to the general cargo yards, gates, container yards, and the logistics system for the port and sea berths.

President El-Sisi gave directives to make the utmost utilization of all yards in Alexandria Port for the port’s facilities and to explore the possibility of seeking foreign expertise in the management and operation so as to upgrade the performance and boost the output for the benefit of the comprehensive development process underway in Egypt.

The Minister of Transport also reviewed the process of completing and upgrading Al Sokhna Port and of establishing the logistic areas in the port and new yards. He also offered an overview of efforts to develop Damietta Port, particularly with regard to breakwaters, the navigational passage and dredging.

The Minister also reviewed progress in the implementation of the additional new axes as well as those being constructed on the Nile.

The President stressed the need to adhere to the time-schedule set for the completion of these axes as soon as possible, given their vital return as they represent arteries binding the two banks of the Nile and a safe means for the smooth transportation of individuals. This is also due to their economic return by facilitating trade and the crossing of trucks.

The President was also briefed on progress in the new means of transportation, which were added to the public transportation system, particularly the Light Rail Transit (LRT), the Monorail, and the High-Speed Electric Train. This is in addition to the works of stations, construction works, and overhead bridges at intersections and routes for these modern means of transportation. Those will make a significant leap in the public transport system in Egypt, as they will link all parts of the Republic through a network of ports and airports, which will serve the development process in all fields in Egypt.
