President El-Sisi Speaks with the President of the Libyan Presidential Council

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call this evening from President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mr. Mohamed Al-Manfi.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said Mr. Al-Manfi expressed his sincerest appreciation for Egypt’s genuine support for his country, extending the steadfast and brotherly relations that bind the two countries and their peoples. He valued President El-Sisi’s relentless efforts in support of Libya, particularly by contributing to restoring its national institutions and uniting the Libyan national army. Mr. Al-Manfi lauded Egypt’s vital role in transferring its developmental experience to Libya.

President El-Sisi reiterated that Egypt did not and will not spare any effort to support Libya to achieve national reconciliation and unite the Libyan people, while avoiding any political disputes. The President confirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of support necessary in this regard.

During their call, the two sides agreed on the need for the resolution of the Libyan crisis to stem from the Libyans themselves. They stressed that holding elections is the only way to settle the current situation, in tandem with the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territories so as to ensure the implementation of any political settlement.
