Readout of President El-Sisi's Call with British PM

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the British PM praised the close ties between Egypt and Britain and the significant momentum that the relations between the two countries have gained, especially at the economic and trade levels. Mr. Johnson stressed that Egypt is one of Britain's most important partners in the Middle East and Africa, especially in terms of consolidating security and stability. Hence, the British side is keen to continue supporting the ambitious measures and pioneering experience carried out by Egypt in an effort to advance the economy and achieve comprehensive development, especially through increasing investments, transferring expertise and technology, and localizing industry.

For his part, the President praised the remarkable development and qualitative leap in bilateral relations between Egypt and Britain in all fields. His Excellency stressed Egypt's aspiration to maximize fruitful cooperation during the coming period, enhance political coordination and exchange views in light of the common challenges facing the two countries at the international and regional levels.

President El-Sisi also stressed that Egypt is looking forward to having Britain more involved through the mechanisms of its various development institutions in the priority development plans, doubling the volume of British investments in Egypt, and promoting economic cooperation between the two sides, especially in light of the improved investment and business climate in Egypt along with the promising opportunities available in mega national projects.

The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed ways to coordinate efforts between Egypt and Britain on various international files. They also exchanged views on the developments of the situation on the Ukrainian arena. In this regard, the President stressed Egypt's readiness to make any efforts to maintain peace and stability around the world.

They also discussed Egypt’s preparations to host UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) this November in Sharm El-Sheikh, especially that Britain is chairing the conference. President El-Sisi stressed that Egypt would adopt a comprehensive approach to build on the success achieved in the Glasgow conference and ensure positive outcomes in support of global climate action. The British PM praised the important role played by Egypt with regard to the global climate action, stressing Britain's aspiration to continue cooperation with Egypt in this field.
