President El-Sisi Speaks with President of Cyprus

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the call touched on ways to further enhance the close ties between the two countries across various fields.

The Cypriot president expressed his keenness to exchange views and consult with President El-Sisi on regional issues of common interest, as well as coordinate on issues pertinent to cooperation between the two countries.

President El-Sisi expressed that Egypt valued the the special cooperation relations with Cyprus and their positive development. He stressed that Egypt looked forward to elevating various aspects of the constructive cooperation, particularly at the levels of security, military, economy and energy, to achieve the interests of the two friendly peoples. 

The Spokesman added that the call also touched on regional developments. Both sides reconfirmed the alignment of the two countries' interests and positions in the eastern Mediterranean region.

The two leaders also discussed ways to coordinate efforts with Egypt as a leading partner of the European Union in the fields of combating terrorism, extremism and illegal immigration.
