El-Sisi Meets PM, Chairman of Suez Canal Authority and Chairman of Suez Canal Economic Zone

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Saturday with the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and Chairman of Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The meeting followed up on the status of projects and measures to develop the Suez Canal Authority and affiliated companies. This includes developing the navigation channel of the Canal, restructuring affiliate companies as well as measures to optimize the utilization of the Authority's assets. The meeting also touched on the strategy to develop the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority reviewed aspects of upgrading the navigation channel of the Canal, constructing garages to provide emergency parking spaces for ships, and deepening the canal to accommodate giant ships, as well as efforts to develop the Authority's maritime fleet. He also reviewed efforts to develop and restructure affiliate companies to maximize returns, turn around failing companies, and establish new ones to crease more jobs. This is in addition to making the best use of the Authority's assets. He also noted that the Authority has shifted to digital transformation to enhance investment returns and better manage the resources.

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone reviewed efforts to upgrade the main sectors in the SCZone as well as upgrade the Adiba, Sokhna, and Tor, East Port Said, West Port Said and Arish ports. He also reviewed the status of current projects in these ports and the industrial zones in East Port Said, Qantara West and East Ismailia, noting that the upgrade process seeks to turn the area into an international hub for shipping and logistics, an industrial hub and a trade gateway between the East and West.

The President stressed the importance of completing all projects to increase investment opportunities and create more jobs within the state's comprehensive development process. The President also emphasized the need to benefit from the young calibers in upgrading the Suez Canal Authority and the Suez Canal Economic Zone in the coming period.
